Main Characters

Renn

Rennalee

Renn is the main female lead of the series. She is a non-human, a predator with the bloodline of a jaguar. She has cat-like ears on her head, a long cat-like tail and even has slightly pointy teeth and nails as well. Other than that, with a little effort, she look completely human!

Her appearance is that of a young woman who just left her teens. She’s far older than she looks though, and her gentle and brittle heart is proof of it. She’s quick to tear up from emotional moments, and falls in love easily because of her lack of emotional connections throughout her long life.

Renn joins the Society to escape being alone, but more importantly to avoid falling in love with humans only for them to die before she can even truly know them. Upon joining however she quickly becomes involved in not just the drama and inner-workings of the Society… but Vim. The Society’s Protector.

The two quickly form a unique bond, and she joins him on his seemingly forever quest to protect the members of the Society… even from themselves.

She also utterly loves berry drinks.

Vim

Vim Vitae.

The Protector of the Society, having joined it nearly since its inception. It is of no small fault of his that the Society still exists, and has grown to what it is today… and also why it is failing today as well.

He is an average looking man, without any non-human traits to speak of. Other than his unnecessarily inhuman strength. He is older than even he knows, and is so blessed with physical prowess that even he feels it’s a scam.

Vim has many rules, his own and those he agreed to upon joining the Society, but only a few really cause problems. One of which is his unwillingness to be involved in prophecies, in any shape or form. This has caused many a’ issue, but he is not willing to bend that rule… not yet, anyway.

Many mysteries surround Vim. A few examples are as follows:

  • What species he is. No one knows what bloodline he hails from.
  • How he is so strong and durable.
  • Why he hunts monarchs and despises anything related to the gods.
  • Why sometimes he suddenly becomes so heavy the very earth breaks beneath him.

Although a strange man, with many faults, no one outright hates him or finds him unloyal. Many in the Society have complaints against him, but they are in the form of things beyond his control. He is a friendly, understanding and fiercely loyal man. He has sacrificed centuries to the Society, never taking a break or asking for anything in return.
